In a world driven by technology, data is one of our most valuable assets, and like all assets it needs to be managed in order to reap the benefits. DAMA Southern Africa, the SA Chapter of DAMA International, is passionate about data and information management. Our (volunteer) Directors meet regularly to discuss and plan events and activities that promote discussion and the exchange of ideas on all topics broadly related to Data and Information Management.

Our vision is to be an essential resource for those who engage in information and data management. As a not-for-profit, vendor-independent, association of technical and business professionals we are dedicated to advancing the concepts and practices of information and data management.

DAMA Southern Africa's goals are to:

1. Promote the understanding and practice of managing data and information as key enterprise assets.
2. Help practitioners become more knowledgeable and skilled in their information and data management profession.
3. Influence best practices, education and certification in the information and data management profession.
4. Support our local DAMA members and their organizations to address their information and data management needs.
5. Form alliances with other organizations with similar principles to strengthen the profession.
6. Provide regular forums for the exchange of information, ideas, and expertise.
7. Publish local case studies that give a unique insight into data management in South Africa.
8. Influence Government and academia regarding data and information management best practices.
